"You are Aes Sedai, and strong enough in the Power to overcome Amys and Melaine together" Strong enough. Not "with the element of surprise". Purely based on Aviendha's assesment of Egwene's stregth.

Amys is described as equal to Moiraine in strength, and Melaine is described to be as strong as a very strong Aes Sedai.


Yes, Egwene is strong enough that when these two women come at her, she can still hold her own. This does not in any way mean her strength is the sum of the two of theirs.

Its like saying since Rand can fight five swordsmen at once, he's as strong as five men put together.


Aviendha says Egwene is strong enough to overcome Amys and Melaine combined. If Amys and Melaine combined exceed Egwene's strength, on what basis can Aviendha make such a statement?
