that entire scene is ... how could Siuan have not known she was shielded when the women shielding her were right in front of her? She just wasn't paying attention or thinking clearly ... hello she didn't even notice when her Warder was murdered!

She didn't notice the death of her warder since she was shielded! And Aran'gar was distracted too, but the impressive amounts of Power Rand was channeling.

I find myself incredulous that Aran'gar wouldn't have grabbed the source as soon as she felt Rand channel so much. And the fact that a woman can miss being shielded by another when she's not holding the source is enough proof for me that a man can miss it if a woman shields him. Your argument that the previous scene, and hence Jordan, was wrong isn't quite going to sway me.
