Anyone who "passed" this test to satisfy Rubinde, Lelaine and Barasine may as well openly admit to being a Darkfriend. The damage, in my eyes, would be about the same.
Honestly, any person who will forsake saving sick children just so she could earn the title of Aes Sedai does not deserve to be called "Servant of All". Nyneave was perfectly right when she said she didn't care to be Aes Sedai if it meant leaving children to die. Any organization that demands that of its members may as well be part of the Shadow.
Thankfully, that is not what is demanded even by the super-retarded Aes Sedai. If you read carefully, you will see that Saerin was furious about the test before Nynaeve said anything. Before Nynaeve made her speech, Egwene not only said that Nynaeve handled the channeling component admirably, she also didn't disagree with Nynaeve's logic (only asking her to not ruffle any more feathers today). The only concern Saerin, Seiaine, Yukiri and probably Romanda had was the use of Balefire. And Nynaeve addressed that to all their satisfaction.
But, more critically, this test was necessary for Egwene. Surrounded by people like Nynaeve, Elayne, Siuan, Leanne, Silviana and even Saerin, Seaine and Yukiri, all women who have more or less correct priorities, she had completely lost sight of the fact that the problems the Aes Sedai faced are not only about weak leadership and bad organization. They are also morally bankrupt, as an institution. They've sat too long thinking their mere existence has stopped the Shadow in the past. They rest on the laurels of their betters from the past, and have completely failed the world when they were needed the most. Egwene needed to see why that was. Nynaeve hit the nail on the head when she talked about how the Tower's perspective was alienated from the world's. Egwene needs to change that too, not only how effective the Aes Sedai are as an organization.

Yes, the test was pretty harsh on Nynaeve as Saerin said but also understandable. Nynaeve is the most powerful woman in the history of the Tower which elicited a lot of consequences. It led to jealousy in some, but the Sitter probably really wanted to push her like no other to see if their poster girl was worth her inborn ability. I've often thought that they press women according to their strength, especially because Moiraine was so hard pushed I wondered if Daigian would have survived.
As for Egwene, I hated her in this book. I personally think she was written poorly and that he missed her character completely, but Egwene detractors will say she's become the bitch they've always known she is. She's become identical to Siuan Sanche in TGH which is tragic because I never thought it was her characters destiny i.e to be such a bitch you're not fun to read about.
