There is no reason to assume Aviendha is wrong in a direct quote about something as simple as strength. Now it's probable that Aviendha was speaking about Potential rather than current strength, but even still Egwene was enough stronger than Amys to batter down the shield Amys held on her later in the book

But was unable to do so with Katerine, Barasine or Silviana, of whom only one is likely as strong as Amys at best?

I don't think anyone is arguing Egwene is stronger than Amys. The problem is the assumption that she's twice as strong, which makes no sense in light of Elza's quote.
