Just like only "real" literature isn't good food, or only crime, or only historical, or whatever.

What I got from Tom's post was that it is good to read a whole variety of things.

And, let's be honest, it's harder to find really good SF/F works than it is to find the same amongst "real" literature.

In case you misunderstand me, it's harder still to find quality works amongst crime, harder again in thrillers and almost impossible in romance. ;)
