Dan Brown writes crap (speculative fiction, by the way). He pretends to be meaningful only for those people stupid enough to mistake him for a real writer. He writes screenplays, in fact. He writes his books to get them made into movies and cash out. It's a smart move for him.

However, the frightening part is that it's precisely because he sets his books in places that can all be verified that people assume that other parts of his books are true, too. How many people started believing absolutely ABSURD theories about Mary Magdalene and the Catholic Church as the result of his books? It was because they "felt" real to people.

Today, there are hundreds of thousands of people obsessed with crazy theories because of Dan Brown. If he had put his stories in outer space that wouldn't have happened.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
