Not one of his representations in a movie/other book. The actual Le Morte d'Artur (or however it's spelled).
Morte d'Artur was only written in the late 1400s. He is basing it on much older material.
Geoffrey of Monmouth's History of the Kings of Britain, from the 1130s, treats Arthur pretty much like any other warrior king conquering France. But he has no Lancelot (Mordred takes Guinevere as a wife, but there is no concept of courtly love). He did invent Merlin, though.
If you are going to go with "actual" book, though, that would be as close as you'd get. But the concept makes no sense when talking of Arthur. Monmouth most likely had a basis in older legend, and his story was further developed through several incarnations. We get Excalibur named in Wace' Roman Du Brut (1150s), who also introduces a more courtly mode and the idea of the round table.
Which brings it into the French court and Eleanor of Aquitaine and probably to the attention of Chretien de Troyes, who really develops the grail story.
And only after a round trip on the continent does it get to Malory.
