The point is that being a woman is not a sin (though some Biblical passages here and there might make you wonder about that), but a man who has sex with another man is clearly and unambiguously committing a sin, according to the Bible. If the man is a priest, and claims that there is nothing wrong with this behavior, then you have an issue. It's no different, if one accepts the Bible (particularly in a sola sriptura doctrinal background), than if a murderer were a priest and continued to murder, unrepentant and without remorse.
It's disappointing that that's so difficult to see. I truly wish I'd seen a convincing argument to the contrary, but haven't. We can twist and torture passages to create a theroetical basis to question whether the many textual prohibitions were meant for all time, but the possibility still seems rather remote. I'm not so hubristic that I'd argue practicing homosexuals be "excommunicated", but the hubris of saying God has suddenly condoned something the Church has categorically opposed since centuries before the Crucifixion (and the critic coincidentally to practices) strikes me as a bar to the priesthood.
