To the Jewish (and the Muslims), Jesus of Nazareth was just another in a long line of prophets. Christianity sees him as the messiah, the fulfillment of prophecy, and the bringer of a new Covenant with God.

Thus, to the Christian, almost all the laws of the Old Testament are reduced to advice, not requirements. The teachings of Jesus have replaced them.
