A clerk, whether for a liberal justice or a conservative one, disagrees with the breadth of the ruling and wanted to get the word out there ASAP. While I'm certain you don't see things this way, a vote to make women second class citizens is very likely to inflame passions.

Why the fuck would this change anyone's votes? Gorsuch and Kavanaugh straight up lied to the Senate about they'd vote. If that doesn't give them pause, what is any pro-abortion group possibly do to sway their minds?


Leaking also kind of locks in the 5 justices into a more radical decision. You are not going to soft walk yourself back to some abortion decision (with Roberts) that will allow less abortions even if you slowly chip away at Roe v Wade for there is now the social exposure from the leak.
