My dear Aeryn Send a noteboard - 09/04/2012 01:07:34 PM
For as long as I am going to post on the Books and TV/Movies boards here, I am going to speak my mind. I can't promise that I won't reconsider posting here at all, but that's another issue.

I am no native speaker. I just checked. The word can be used as noun.

I appreciate your admission that you're not a native speaker. Even though it *can be* used as a noun, doesn't mean it should. I think you should be aware of the messages you're sending by the words you're choosing to use, especially if you don't actually intend on sending those messages!

Now you can continue using female as a noun all you want when you're talking about women (I'm not going to point it out to you after this, in case you were worried) but now you know that it has negative connotations and you can't claim ignorance as an excuse in the future.

You made a mistake in this post, and this was to treat males as your intellectual equals. Only a few select are, when they prove themselves. Remember however, that most people are your intellectual inferiors and will flail and rant when faced with that fact.

It's fairly derogatory as a noun, though, have to agree with Vivien on that one. - 04/04/2012 07:30:18 PM 747 Views
I don't think Jens was really using it that way, though - 04/04/2012 07:34:28 PM 684 Views

If dislike of the use of female as a noun makes me crazy town, I'm not the only crazy in here. - 05/04/2012 05:59:16 PM 695 Views
For the record, I certainly don't think you're crazy town. - 05/04/2012 07:23:18 PM 717 Views
Oh, so now we're using 'dislike' instead of 'should'. It's funny how you fell back on that. - 06/04/2012 10:01:59 AM 723 Views
