What is unrealistic is that someone with the experience of ruling the world is demoted to the point of being a servile nobody who has to endure a "be quiet until you are spoken to" attitude from the girls she used to rule.

If Michael Jordan is suddenly crippled and unable to get out of a wheelchair he would still have the respect of other NBA players, despite having lost his abilities.

Same with Roger Federer in tennis, or a gifted fighter pilot in the Air Force, or any other person who used to hold a position of acclaim and greatness.

Portraying her as having to show deference and servitude to women who used to be her subjects is ridiculous.


There are several reasons why Siuan is treated so badly. As Amyrlin she allowed something unprecedented to occur - the breaking of the Tower. Not only that, but most Sisters know that she is the actual reason for it too.

Secondly, she can't channel, which makes her less than the weakest novice. If Michael Jordan was paralyzed he would retain respect but if he tried to exert influence on able-bodied players he would soon find himself in deep water.

Finally, Siuan looks like a young girl, so it's even harder to respect her.

Liandrin was the head of the black ajah posse but when Moghedien shielded her they ignored her command within one paragraph. The Shadow is undoubtedly more hostile in this area, but it seems that the Light is equally abrasive once the ability is lost.
