You are assuming that the messanger would tip her off that he knows she is there. I don't think it would.
Earlier in the series: Graendal says If Rand came against me, I would either throw myself on his mercy or run away.
Later in the series: Rand channels enough of the Power to crack the earth in half.
TGS (my proposal): Rand sends messenger to Graendal. Graendal knows he has the Access Key. Graendal doesn't care what method he chooses to use to attack her - she's going to get out of Dodge.
She doesn't strike me as similar to Rahvin in that she'll remain on her throne taunting and trying to defeat the Dragon on her terms; I really think she'd be surprised he figured out where she was, hurriedly Compel Ramshala to cover her tracks, and Travel out of there. I'm saying that it severely starts to stretch the boundaries of belief that after Semi's capture, numerous deaths among the Chosen and then the Choedan Kal being successfully used that any of the Forsaken would go against Rand directly. I'm just going off of her personality characteristics here and for me, it strains credibility that she would wait around with that sort of threat on her doorstep - her M.O. has always been a lack of fear to flee if necessary; Rand wasn't supposed to find her at her headquarters. That's a big red flag tomorrow.

I think it's fair to say at this point that Graendal did not kill Asmodean.

Dead as Dumbledore. But why does it preclude her from being Asmo's killer?

Right. That info could easily be revealed through the POV of another. *NM*

Actually, the one that Rand had Nynaeve study earlier was more complex.

Alive. It's the simplest answer for me, especially considering that Rand knew she was more cunning
