Re: On the whole Egwene vs. Nynaeve thing...
Skeeve the Great Send a noteboard - 06/02/2010 11:12:27 PM
Without any doubt, Nynaeve is a clumsy weaver. Not because she's inherently unskilled but because she never practices and has shown no dedication to improve her skill.
That's a stretch. Nowhere in the book it stated that Nynaeve is clumsy weaver. It stated several times that she doesn't pay attention to studies if it's not involved the Healing. But that is not the same as clumsy. In many regards, Nynaeve is exceptional weaver. As shown from POV of Elayne.
Egwene, on the other hand, is shown to be a master at anything the Aes Sedai can weave,
If we compare them to Aes Sedai, then Nynaeve long ago overpassed Aes Sedai. Here is the quote from WOT Wiki: "She has some favorable skill in battle: whenever threatened in the early books she would call down lightning and spew fireballs with an ease most Accepted (and even Aes Sedai) would have trouble matching, once even using balefire which only a few living Aes Sedai even have knowledge about"
Remember how Nynaeve was in battle in earlier books.
As RJ's statement showed, Egwene would breeze through the Aes Sedai test while Nynaeve, despite greater strength, would not. The test checks for one thing... weaving under pressure, and also using channeling to tackle other obstacles and distractions.
It is clear that Nynaeve will have to rely entirely on her strength for this, and that is going to be tiring. Someone like Egwene or Elayne, with their greater practice and broader knowledge, will not have this problem.
That's not what RJ implied and your assumtion is simply wrong. RJ implied that Nynaeve is not intersted in anything that is not involve Healing. That's why passing test for her would be a little hard. As a channeling under stress - she tackled Moggy and I don't think it was very calm situation. So again, you assumtion that she's not capable to tackle obstacles and distractions are simply baseless.
Over and above that, Egwene remains the only person who could make 14 weaves at once. Sure, Rand or someone might match that, but we haven't seen it. Rand says he can make up to 12 weaves at one go, and that is all we have evidence for.
We've seen Rand doing 100 Arrows of Fire at once. And we've seen Nynaeve doing mutlitple very complex weaving that Elayne can't comprehend at all. And we've been told that are SuperGirls (Avi, Elayne, Egwene) are pretty much evenly matched.
Who would win in a fight? (yes, you read that right!
