Definitely. And Egwene is in denial. beetnemesis Send a noteboard - 03/09/2009 05:53:14 PM
My complaint is that the organization itself is ineffectual. Individual sisters can still sometimes do great things, but they're acting on their own. We STILL don't know if seeking out women who can channel was Verin's sole purpose in coming to the Two Rivers- remember, other than Moiraine and Siuan, she was the only other sister who knew what was going on (as much as anyone did in tSR, anyway). Whatever her intentions were, however, were hers and hers alone- not the Towers, and not Siuan's.

The big challenge for the AS now is how they adjust and learn to accept the new, less lofty place in the scheme of things.

Definitely. It's pretty obvious to me that the WT, in its current incarnation at least, is obsolete. Saidin is cleansed, the Black Tower has been built, the Oath Rod halves your lifecycle, Aiel and Windfinders hold honored places WITHOUT binding themselves, and Tarmon Gai'don is coming.

Whenever Egwene talks about "all women who can channel being linked to the White Tower," or her ridiculous plan involving the Kin, it just reeks of desperation and denial.

Most people hate Aes Sedai, some for good reason, others for simple superstition. But even those who don't hate them are incredibly suspicious of them. Why would anyone want an advisor like that?
I amuse myself.
