Eh, maybe. I'm on a SF/Fantasy message board hearing an awful lot about the classics. It bugs me. And I respect people like Tom, so it makes me feel like shit when he puts my reading choices down by saying they aren't valuable.
Maybe what I'm trying to say is that I'd rather see some obscure stuff. And the classics have never blown me away in writing style. They've never done much for me in any way, although there have been some that have been wonderful- which I guess is true in any genre, so it's no different than anything else to me. I wonder if that makes sense, since it's past my bedtime.
