I love, love, love that Rowling redeems Dudley in this book. Makes me forgive her for the flat characterisation of the Dursleys. A little more from Petunia again as well. Those tiny insights into the woman she could have been if she wasn't eaten up by jealousy are interesting.
As I've said before, the cupboard thing is really quite unforgiveable, and the only way you can - or, well, I'll speak for myself, the only way I can - accept the Dursleys' more human characters in the final two books is by conveniently forgetting book one, or taking it with a grain of salt on account of it being much more of a children's book.
