Re: Dumbledore, Hermione and Harry, Voldemort and Rita Skeeter.

Dumbledore: Harry's interpretation of why Dumbledore did not raise the connection of Godric's Hollow so that they could share it is, as usual, rather off, I think. It seems clear to me that the reason why he did not is that the memory of Godric's Hollow and how his sister ended up sharing the graveyard with Harry's parents is too painful. Harry can desire the bond, as he has no guilt in the death of his parents, but Dumbledore cannot do the same. (This is not a slight on Harry's understanding: he could not have known with the information he has at the time.)
Yeah. I think it's part of the characterisation of a teenager. I think Rowling must have been writing this book around the time of the big "discovery" that teenagers are dreadful at interpreting other people's emotions.

That sounds very plausible.
And while I quite firmly believe that authorial intention cannot dictate interpretation, I love Rowling's explanation that Dumbledore was in love with Grindewald. It makes perfect sense to me and adds another side to the story. It fits. It was not obvious to me when I first read the story, but it is definitely part of it now.
It does indeed.
Hermione and Harry: they take turns walking on egg-shells. Hermione more than Harry, I think. Even when she is crying because Ron has left, it seems that not mentioning him is based mainly in Harry's feelings of betrayal.
Voldemort: I liked the peek into his head when the relives killing the Potters. The evaluation of them as weak because they live a normal life without constant vigilance, the focus on the inexplicably dangerous child.
I was surprised that he said Lily didn't need to die. Can't remember right now whether he told her that or just thought it, but it's very surprising. He was quite gung ho about killing James. Maybe it was a promise to Snape or something like that? Lily is the reason Snape turned away from Voldemort.
...
I might be reading too much into that?
No, I don't think you read too much into it at all. It is very plausible, certainly as I read it. Snape does say later on, I think (or earlier on -- I think it is in his memory) that Voldemort had promised not to hurt Lily. Clearly we now see how much promises mean to him.
Rita Skeeter: are there really no laws against using veritaserum on people? She is quite open about it. I find it baffling. Also, I hate the woman.
I wondered exactly the same thing. But maybe at this point she knows it's not a problem because the Ministry's busy with other stuff (and obviously utterly corrupt).
