There's the Prince Who Was Promised and then there was the person who defeated the Others in the War for the Dawn. Melisandre thinks they are one and the same, but it's unclear if this is so. Most notably, only Melisandre uses the name Azhor Azhai, which does not sound very Westerosi.

So I think there may be two pieces of the puzzle. Jon Snow is one and Dany is the other. It may well be that 'Lightbringer' is in fact Dany and her dragons, and she must ally with the PWWP, Jon, to defeat the Others. Or vice versa.

If ADWD teaches us anything, it's that Melisandre is really useless at getting this stuff right :)


I always thought that Melisandre was full of shit and now i'm convinced.
As much as it hurts me (almost physically) GRR is a brutal author and I think that the next book is intended to be absolute chaos so that it can crystallize into some kind of order in the last book.
If thats true then Jon's death really fucks things up, setting crows against wildlings and destroying everything he's built.
I wish i could believe it was all a clever ploy but im pretty convinced that Jon is dead a door knob and The whole PWWP is so much crap.
