The story moves very quickly and much of the exposition requires that we know what happens in exactly the detail we're given. To that extent, the book might be interesting for discussion - what could be cut and, if not, why?

Once again, though, we're not really dealing with the book on its own terms. However, perhaps that is exactly the way that we have a more interesting discussion about the book - by basing the discussion on Eco's statements about it.
