...I've read Naamah's Kiss. The sex scenes are very much in place. The book just read rushed and simplistic to me. The characters are just not even close to Phedre. The love interest is a cartoon, honestly. I was really disappointed and I'm a big fan of the first trilogy.
Phèdre is a large part of what makes the books good. The second trilogy is as good as the first in terms of story, I'm sure, but it just feels less interesting because the main character is not Phèdre (and because it's not as original anymore, I guess).
Incidentally, I just read Racine's tragedy Phèdre, about the character in Greek mythology she was named after - there are a few references to that in the books too. It was interesting, though I can't say I found many similarities.
The Count of Monte Cristo was a terrible choice for a book discussion.
