The problem with those polls is that they do not tell us the IMPORTANT demographic splits, namely, how many of those for and against requiring employer provided contraception coverage are far right conversatives who will never vote for Obama, far left liberals who always will, and moderates/independents on the fence. What makes the article interesting is the purported "intensity gap" in favor of contraceptive rights among independents. Maybe that is enough to make this a net political gain for Obama, but it is a bit of a gamble (for women as well as for him) that could have been avoided by just creating a public healthcare system like every other civilized country on the planet, and without infringing at all on the religious freedom of churches.
