She wasn't cover for anything, but I like how this argument keeps going that way.

The title of his article is "Why Iran's dictators can be deterred" but it should have been "Why we shouldn't worry about deterring Iran's dictators". No where in his article does he support the argument that Iran's dictators can be deterred he simply advocates to keep doing the things we have been doing without any signs of success and don't worry about because it isn't that big of a deal.
If the point of his augment was that presidents shouldn't attack other countries just to look tough then he could have written a much shorter article and he should have given it a better title. Same thing is true if the point of argument was simply that we shouldn’t listen to Sarah Palin when it comes to complex international issues. Sorry but he was using her as strawman to support his argument.

"The United States should use the latest IAEA report to bolster a robust containment strategy against Iran, bringing together the moderate Arab states and Israel in a tacit alliance, asking European states to go further in their actions, and pushing Russia and China to endorse sanctions. Former secretary of state James Baker suggested to me on CNN that the United States could extend its nuclear umbrella to Israel, Egypt and the Gulf states -- something that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has hinted at as well.
At the same time, Washington should back the "Green Movement" in Iran, which ultimately holds out the greatest hope for a change in the basic orientation of Iran's foreign policy. It remains unclear how broad or well-organized this opposition movement is, but as a long-term strategy we should support groups that want a more modern and open Iran."
I'm guessing because his points here don't include going to war, he's not registering on your radar as having made any beneficial suggestions?
The "don't worry about it because it isn't a big deal" feel comes in because he is stating that we should try not to attack them (particularly not now) to pre-emptively stall their program that isn't in the position of harming anyone currently.
