It is an item of value.
Pretty much there are two important things for the law I linked to earlier (or a link of a link)
------
Remember part A of the law is setting up definitions, part B is one of the main points of the law and thus goes first after the definitions.
Part B of the law states foreign nationals can not contribute or donate to US elections (more personal thoughts on this later.)
https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/11/110.20
And the contribution is not just money, but can be of anything of value. Value includes stuff like Oppo.
But it is very important to pay attention to another part of the law that comes later
Donald Trump Jr (as part of the Trump Campaign, but also Manafort and Kushner) should not seek out aka solicitation anything of value. Aka it is not just receiving the Oppo that breaks the law, it is a US citizen seeking out Oppo from a foreign national that breaks the law even if the foreign national does not deliver.
This is why Donald Trump Jr. is probably GOING TO BE in legal trouble (even though he is not in legal trouble to our knowledge on the mid of July 2017).
Of course those other two people I mentioned are probably going to be in legal trouble too, except the difference is they were merely e-mail forwarded this conversation and they never said anything such as "I Love It"
------
Now this is Roland00's personal opinion time. I can personally make the argument this is a stupid law, and I can personally make the argument that we need a law like this even if its a stupid law. It all depends on having an honest system of laws where the prosecutor can choose not to bring cases as part of the Rule of Law for not in the Donald Trump Jr case, but this law is extremely far reaching and can be used in ways that people may not foreseen when writting it.
Also this law has issues where it brushes up against the 1st amendment. I am not saying it violates the 1st amendment's text, but it may violate the idea or spirit of the 1st amendment.
Aka I am glad I am not a judge or supreme court justice whose job is to "split the baby" as if I were some King Solomon.
------
Now I said this earlier in the prior post in the above chain. Whether this law is a stupid law, and whether it is moral or ethical, and whether Donald Trump Jr, Manafort, and Kushner should go down for breaking the law...well that is a different matter altogether.
Sometimes some things are illegal but from a political standpoint it is normal politics and you can debate all sides of this.
Me personally as Roland00, I would ran away from the situation and possibly call the FBI but that may be because I have a stick in my butt and I can't stand doing sleazy things, even though in politics doing sleazy things is like 1/3rd the norm.
