Short term the election of a President who vows to enact a 50% wealth tax on all billionaires, have the government absorb billions in medical and college debt, and ban fossil fuels by 2030, would be devastating to my 401K. Long term, sure it would probably rebound. I don't have long term.
I'm not willing to have someone put a cap on my success. Right now they are talking about taxing billionaires. Why stop there? Why not create a system where people get as much as they need? If we're gonna do this socialism thing, that's where it goes.
I'm not willing to have to pay for someone else's college debt. I paid for my own by making sacrifices and working hard. I didn't get to go to the school that I wanted. I didn't get to party it up and get a degree with no income potential. Instead I went to the best school that I could afford, and got a degree that I worked my butt off to earn. Then I ground out tough jobs along the way to get to where I am almost comfortable. Why should I pay for someone else's problems. (regarding medical bills....different topic)
And ban fossil fuels by 2030...uh huh. So the rest of you don't like to eat, I guess? Our entire economy is based on the ability to move around and move stuff around. The renewable energy transportation structure is not robust enough to handle a complete overhaul of humanity's practices from transportation of food stuffs to human movement.
