Yeah, I was shocked initially. BlackAdder Send a noteboard - 18/11/2009 10:58:15 PM
You know, at first, I had the same reaction. I figured it couldn't be as easy as that. But let's face reality: the Forsaken are completely inept. From Balthamel who was killed by a walking garden and Aginor who overdrew on the Source like an untrained Wilder, to Be'lal who got backstabbed and killed in a single blow after appearing for all of one scene, to Lanfear who despite being the most powerful woman in the Power and using an angreal, died from being randomly tackled, to Rahvin and Sammael who died from the intervention of another Forsaken on behalf of the Light, to Osan'gar who was randomly killed by a circle at the Cleansing and culminating with Semirhage's poorly thought out plan and subsequent destruction with her master's own Power, the Forsaken were never meant to really be awe inspiring once we got to know them.

Rand almost ripped the Pattern apart through massive usage of balefire, that was the purpose of that scene. Granedal was only a means to that end. She was never consequential.

I expect she's dead. And I expect that this will be the new 'Semirhage was planning to get captured all along' that we witnessed after Knife of Dreams. No, she really did fail that badly.

Then I realized that I was trying to say "But this time, it's different" and we know how that turns out...

I think it's fair to say at this point that Graendal did not kill Asmodean. - 02/11/2009 04:36:37 AM 1004 Views

Dead as Dumbledore. But why does it preclude her from being Asmo's killer? - 02/11/2009 07:04:08 AM 935 Views
Right. That info could easily be revealed through the POV of another. *NM* - 02/11/2009 02:15:31 PM 410 Views

That weave was very complex. - 02/11/2009 10:34:36 PM 835 Views
Actually, the one that Rand had Nynaeve study earlier was more complex. - 04/11/2009 05:11:07 PM 912 Views
But you can't reverse Compulsion by unraveling it, right? - 18/11/2009 10:48:08 PM 862 Views
Almost certainly dead - 02/11/2009 04:48:18 PM 1020 Views
Yeah. Compared to, say, Sammael's "death" - 02/11/2009 10:40:01 PM 917 Views
Not even almost. Graendal and Sammael now both go well with eggs. *NM* - 03/11/2009 01:51:15 AM 438 Views

Well, unlike everyone else, - 04/11/2009 01:34:57 AM 842 Views
Alive. It's the simplest answer for me, especially considering that Rand knew she was more cunning - 04/11/2009 05:03:38 PM 1034 Views

No, I'm making it more simple. - 04/11/2009 11:11:36 PM 881 Views
That thoery doesn't account for the undoing of the Compulsion - 04/11/2009 11:50:06 PM 885 Views
Yes, it does. Distance causes maintained weaves and Links to attenuate. - 05/11/2009 04:22:37 PM 942 Views
Yes, but Compulsion is almost never a maintained weave *NM* - 06/11/2009 07:19:24 PM 459 Views
