should definitely help him understand that he needs to make INFORMED decisions, not rash ones. He can't be ruled by emotion. He should especially know that rumours are often merely just sensationalised stories, or downright false. Yes, he has been told plenty of false things, but I can't believe he gets angry at Siuan for "misleading" Elayne and then fails to see that Elaida is doing the same to him (actually, he DOES see it at times, but fails to act on it).

Plus, for someone who claims to love Egwene, he has never really shown it to be love over lust. He sides against her with Elaida, considers her to be a child unable to make her own decisions, and doesn't believe her about Rand (despite her having pretty much known the exact situation).

In summation: any sense of duty that exists without question or clear justification is a bloody annoying trait for a character to have.
The first rule of being a ninja is "do no harm". Unless you intend to do harm, then do lots of harm.
