Granted, it hasn't happened yet. But I predict that the encounter will highlight Egwene's good points more so than Rand's. I think it would be awesome if Rand shows up, finally sane and with purpose, and acts like the awesome leader he is supposed to be. But seeing that Rand has never done this before, I don't think it will happen this time. I'd really like for him to actually be a leader, for once. Not a figure that people submit to out of fear or because of his reputation. I'd like for him to be intelligent, capable, and willing to make compromises and negotiate.

Actually, I'd like this for more than just Rand. I'd like for any of the main characters, when dealing with each other, to do so without regard to social standing. This is one of the things that annoys me the most about WOT. Whenever the protagonists deal with each other, they don't act like friends; they act like rivals. Too much concern about who has higher standing. It happens almost every single time a protagonist in a position of leadership interacts with another, and one of them gets the 'upper hand' before anything actually happens, because they are too stubborn to treat each other with decency.

And now that Rand and Egwene are going to meet, with both of them in positions of power, I predict that one of them is going to have the upper hand and look good, while the other is going to look bad. Seeing as this has never happened to Egwene, I'm going to guess that streak is going to continue, and Rand is going to end up chastened (whether it is right or wrong). My only hope is that Brandon will be able to break out of RJ's formula, and make things interesting.
