Mat didn't believe Egwene was the Amyrlin Seat, because no one told him. After they explained the situation, he still thought they were fools for getting involved with the rebellion, but he respected their decision- and!- went out of his way to show respect to Egwene in front of the other Aes Sedai.

More or less the opposite of Egwene's actions, no?


He still calls them fools and mad-women and sets his army to following, just in case Egwene "comes to her senses".

I tend to find Egwene rather refreshing because she's the only one who's really honest about who she is and what her goals are and that she's not the same person she was in the TR.


What? After Egwene used Mat to further her own ends. She knows that she is using Mat but justifies it because it serves her own goals.
