Depends on who you are, one would imagine. Rebekah Send a noteboard - 10/01/2010 08:16:11 AM
This is one of the problems of running a book club across this wide range of people with their interests and capabilities. Not everyone will find the book as devoid of depth & discussion points as you do, and not everyone will see all of the depth in books like Madame Bovary or The Master and Margarita.

As we have to cater to your tastes, so we have to cater to the tastes of others. Swings and roundabouts. Hopefully next time there'll be something more to your liking.

At least you know now that The Count of Monte Cristo is not what it's made out to be. ;)

Here's the French translation from Eco's work on supermen - 10/01/2010 01:39:28 AM 1367 Views
I love it. Strangely enough, though, he wrote an introduction to the book. - 10/01/2010 01:54:24 AM 1222 Views
Not really strange as Eco has long been fascinated by this book - 11/01/2010 05:01:56 PM 1225 Views
Did he mention it in his book on ugliness? - 11/01/2010 05:12:55 PM 1140 Views
