I do find it hard to miss the irony that lawmakers put heavy pressure on a private organization to make a particular decision because they felt the original decision may have been politically motivated. That really only makes sense if their goal was to ensure the group was making a politically motivated decision.
The irony, I'm sure, will be missed by everyone it applied to.
SGK managed to get the worst of both worlds with this. They have managed to piss off both sides and take what was a small connection to PP and make it a very public. The pro-choicers are pissed at the for the first decision and now the pro-lifers are going to be really pissed. When it is all said and done they are right back with they started with the only thing they accomplished was to drag their breast cancer charity into the abortion debate. They really screwed the pooch on this this one.
Very bad karma on this one, their donations had shot up the last couple of days, I'd bet good money a lot of those donors will be less than pleased with the reversal. Well, sow the wind, reap the whirlwind I suppose. There are undeniable advantages to massively advertising, commercializing, or politicizing a cause, but sometimes the piper comes by to collect. I don't really have a dog in this fight though.
