You're making the mistake of pushing my argument to the extreme to try and make it look absurd. That's a fallacy. There is a huge difference between the police illegally searching your home and not being allowed to wear a tuxedo to a dance. One is codified in the laws of the country, the other is a school board rule. Vastly different things.

A more apt analogy would be something alone the line of: We were told by our teachers not to show up late to a test. I decided to do so anyway thinking that either;
a) The rules do not apply to me, or
b) Even if they do, the school won't have the balls to exclude me from the test for violating their previously stated rules.
Then, the school does not allow her to write the test.
