Just because a comedian makes their living telling jokes at bars. Does not mean a specific bar has to host them. A specific bar can ban a specific comedian.

And Twitter can decide who it wants on its website to attract and retain users, but also even more importantly to attract and retain advertising dollars that makes the company profitable.

Now Musk is spending 1/5th of his fortune, the wealthiest fortune on the planet to get involved in Babylon Bee drama, but it is peoples freedom of mind (and speech) to question why the richest man on the planet wants to spend his wealth on this endeavour when there are so many things out there. Why did this thing get under his skin?
