I would say that in the grand scheme of things, Rand's had good to balance out the bad.

I would argue that while Rand's struggles are epic since the weight of the world is on his shoulders, he's had high points to counter the low points. Plus he has the advantage of having the Pattern bend to his will so that he is empowered to accomplish things. I think Egwene's character arc has more to do with her accumulating power so that she can be independent, but as a result, she is always in a weaker position than Rand or Nynaeve is. For example, the one thing we know can definitely be considered a strong point for Egwene, her channeling expertise, is often negated by Nynaeves' Healing talent. I doubt many fans consider modulating the sound dampening weave so that certain whispers are projected where she wants on the same level as Nynaeve discovering how to Heal the taint.
