i'd consider this a valid argument if cadsuane were the one who "guided" him to cleanse saidin or even gave him the idea. she just tagged along for the ride, offering up her help - that's not really "guidance"

True. But I don't think Egwene or Cadsuane want to tell Rand what to do, and certainly don't intend to plan all his actions. They just want to keep him grounded. And he needs that.


Look at what the Aes Sedai do who have bonded Asha'man. They completely control them, telling them where to go, when to jump, etc. Why would Egwene be any different?
