BF does not go on infinitely - it's range is relative to it's power.
Also, it's not how many people die that matters (at least, from a Pattern POV, not from an ethical POV) in terms of damage to the Pattern. Brandon stated that all items/objects also have threads.
Think of it this way - using BF is like pouring hot, molten lava into a big bowl. If you pour small droplets in, then the bowl will cool down before each droplet, but if you pour lots on at once, it will start to melt.
So it's not about how the BF is used so much as it's about how much BF is used.
At least, that's my understanding.
