It's no longer the young boys playing the warder's yard. They've both killed their fair share of skilled men, and Gawyn bested two at the same time in TGS.
Boys don't become men because they can win a fight. Tam says it best: A bully is a bully, [no matter whether they use fists, swords or the power] (paraphrased from memory).
Galad knows to fight for what is right, and also takes initiative and acts as a leader. Gawyn runs away on his own, then stands around like a kicked puppy when Egwene tells him off. So much more could have been done with his character.
Who would win in a fight? (yes, you read that right!
