That "Rand is second only to Lan with the sword". Thus I would say that Lan is the best.


I didn't think Lan is really that skilled with the sword - I thought he was just above average or something. In New Spring, he mentions people who are better than him.

Yes, New Spring is a while before the main sequence, but Lan was already a general at the time (presumably at or near his peak abilities).


as for "just above average" ... he killed 6 men at once! I think it's safe to say that even 20 years prior to the main series he's already in the very upper echelon of swordsmen!
