What I want to see in this meeting is Rand confronting Egwene with all his LTT knowledge and experience. He will not allow her "righteous anger" get to him but respond in a cool tone and call her "little sister" and explain that he was the leader of AS in the AOL and has decided to resume his authority over all AS as the LB is looming. She can go and sit in the corner until he is ready to assign her duties to her. Hah!
I'm looking forward to his real "little sister" coming back (finally). That should be a great scene.

I'm still wondering why exactly he called her that - are they related? Was that LTT talking?
meaning he was essentially calling her a trainee.
Well, here is the passage:
I will do nothing without proof. I will not be goaded, this time. She was not the Egwene he had grown up with; she had become part of the Tower since Moiraine sent her there. Moiraine again. Always Moiraine. Sometimes he wished he were rid of Moiraine. Only sometimes?
He concentrated on her. "What do you want of me?" His voice sounded flat and cold to his own ears. The Power stormed inside him. Egwene had told him that for a woman, touching saidar, the female half of the Source, was an embrace; for a man, always, it was a war without mercy. "And don't mention wagons again, little sister. I usually find out what you mean to do long after it is done."
The Aes Sedai frowned at him, and no wonder. She was surely not used to being addressed so, not by any man, even the Dragon Reborn. He had no idea himself where "little sister" had come from; sometimes of late words seemed to pop into his head. A touch of madness, perhaps. Some nights he lay awake till the small hours, worrying about that. Inside the Void, it seemed someone else's worry.

So, it seems it was LTT talking, but the context just doesn't seem to fit with "trainee" - I think Rand and Moiraine are distantly related, but obviously not brother and sister. Just one of those unanswered things that drives me crazy

For one thing we know Moiraine is in fact the half-sister of Elayne and Gawyn and Galad's father, who was married to Rand's mother.
We also know there is no chance she is in LTTs line, since LTT killed all of his living relatives, earning the name Kinslayer.
Perhaps "Little Sister" just means "More Junior AS" in LTT's world.
I understood the "little sister" quote to refer to the AOL when AS referred to each other in this manner. LTT being so much older and more experienced than Moraine could refer to her as "little" sister. Sister being the term for female AS. Ishamael refers to the fact that none of LTT's "sisters" were around to provide healing to him in TEOW in the prologue.
Moiraine = a younger, female AS ... he'd probably refer to Narishma as "Little Brother"
Domani Drag Queen in the White Tower ... Aran'gar watch out!
