Actually, only Perrin is specifically referenced in any of the visions that I can remember. Everyone else is faceless, and it's possible that the Pattern can replace them.

Except that as I said, they are not mentioned by name. For all we know, Thom might be one of the fireflies, or even Padan Fain, but at the same time we've seen the Pattern heal itself, and it can replace someone like Niall with Galad if it needs too.

Of course, I'm being a bit pedantic here: I'd agree that all major characters are crucial to the plot at this point (indeed, they'd better be).


Min expressly states that Egwene (and Mat, Perrin, Thom, Nynaeve, Moiraine and Lan) is "part of it" and that when they all get together the fireflies do a better job than when it's just Rand. Mat's not ever mentioned by name, nor is Perrin... Wolf King wasn't Perrin's name the last I checked.

But Aviendha is very likely "the Dedicated Spear", Min "She who sees beyond" and Elyane "the Lion Sword" ... Just like Egwene is obviously the Amyrlin of Elaida's fortellings. If Prophesy was as obvious as "Egwene will be Amyrlin" it would be a little silly.
