The bulk of its activities are focused on contraception, STI screening, and cancer screening, and it places a particular emphasis on providing reproductive health care to people who otherwise wouldn't have access.
A lot of that stuff can be pricey- I know quite a few girls who have benefited tremendously just from getting discounted services from there.
It can be quite expensive (relatively speaking. And realize that it has to be purchased every month if a girl thinks she might have sex at any time - it isn't something you can take the night of) if you don't have the right insurance, don't have the right discussions with your doctor, etc. PP is supposed to cover exactly that. As bad as it sounds, I know people who were no where near as careful as they would have been if they had been able to afford health insurance/doctor appointments/prescriptions.
If you think abortion is killing babies, then "but killing babies is only a tiny part of what they do!" isn't really much of a consolation. Where the logic breaks down for me is where people are supposed to go to obtain the non-abortion services without PP. I think the anti-PP crowd overestimates the availability (and certainly the visibility and convenience) of these other alternatives.
