Regardless of your stance on the policies of the school board (no tuxes on girls, partners must be of the opposite sex, etc), saying that they "cancelled the prom so a gay chick couldn't go with her g/f" is a little absurd. You make it sound like a spite filled personal attack, when in reality it was anything but. They cancelled the prom because the school was becoming a media circus, and the ACLU was threatening lawsuits. The school was fast approaching a major administrative crisis, so they threw in the towel and got rid of the whole thing altogether. Seems like a very reasonable (although disappointing for the students) response to the problem.


The ACLU was threatening lawsuits "a gay chick couldn't go with her g/f" to the prom, if the school board "caved" to the ACLU and allowed that "gay chick" to go to the prom with her girlfriend than the media circus would have gone away.
