You're alleging that hypocrisy implies "everyone agrees that the rule is wrong and should be done away with."

I don't believe that's the case. I think the rank and file of the GOP are largely lying through their teeth when they claim that it's not a big deal, and I think in the same circumstances Clinton would already have been impeached. The idea that Kushner has amended his security clearance to add 100 names beggars belief.
