It's okay for liberals to cite the poverty of black people when calling for actions to alleviate that poverty. It's okay for liberals to assert that poverty causes crime when demanding welfare spending over anti-crime policies. And it's racist for anyone to suggest that maybe these two claims of liberals not only might both be true, but that they suggest a natural and-to-be expected higher crime rate for blacks, including a greater likelihood of coming into violent confrontations with the police.
This drives me crazy. Either ghetto neighborhoods are high crime areas or they are not. If poverty and marginalization forces ghetto residents to commit crimes, then why shouldn't police patrolling there expect to see criminal activity and behave accordingly?
