The people coming to the Tower wanting to be Aes Sedai are NOT a random sample of all women. They're a sample of women who want to be Aes Sedai.


Yes, of course, but unless there is some underlying mechanism making women who could be strong channelers be less likely to want to become Aes Sedai, it seems reasonable to assume that the women who want to become Aes Sedai are a random sample of all women.
