Yeah, I disagree. The Companion says explicitly that someone very strong can be very unskilled, and I believe that to be true. Skill is distributed all over the strength scale. We know Sorilea, weak as she is, is very skilled.We've seen it with others too. So no, I don't believe its true that skill goes with strength.

But I'm talking about trends, I'm not making a rule. Aginor is an excellent example of a very powerful and unskilled channeler. A strong channeler obviously has to train and practice, but as I said, I believe they are better with the Power innately. Stronger channelers also have more Talents in general. There is a general kinship with saidin/saidar that increases with strength, especially at high levels. I've never seen a strong channeler struggle with a specific flow.

There are irritating people who can study two hours before an exam and get an A and others who can't. The Power could be like this.

Since when is Sorilea skilled?


Weak for certain, but she could weave gateways well enough to teach it to Cadsuane. Who later described her as weak but skilled.

As to Talents, I think there isn't much to say that strength plays much of a role really. Healing seems to be all over the map in terms of how strong the Talent is, Cloud Dancing seems to nearly be a genetic trait given that the Sea Folk all seem to possess it in great amounts. Seeing Ta'veren, reading residues, intrinsic knowledge of what a weave would be prior to it's completion, Traveling, Dreaming, Foretelling, Aligning the Matrix, all of these Talents have appeared strongly in weaker Channelers, in some cases to a massive degree.

I will say that stronger channelers seem to be more likely to possess multiple high level Talents. But that might have more to do with the Pattern giving the main cast the tools they needed in order to win the Last Battle. I don't recall any of the Forsaken having more than 1 major Talent.
