After the balefire, the Compulsion vanished, as if it had never been there before.
Now, even if it had been "loosely knotted," as we've seen other weaves, to dissipate on its own, it would be impossible for Graendal to have time the "unknotting" to disappear directly after the balefire attack, since 1)She didn't know there would be balefire and 2) She didn't know when it would come.
So I think it's a pretty sure thing that, due to the timing, the balefire killed whoever wove the Compulsion.

I don't see why not. So, if she anticipated an attack she could have done that and fled. Nynaeve checks the weave, tells Rand about it, it unravels, Rand attacks, Nynaeve checks the weave and finds it gone, tells Rand.
The best way for Graendal to convince Rand that she is not there is send the man away without Compulsion. She sent him away covered in weaves. It was like a giant sign in the sky and not her plan at all. There's no way she could have known that Rand was right outside her palace waiting. If she'd set her weaves to unravel, the lord's sudden change in personality would have baited Rand even more. None of it makes any logical sense.

Graendal's death would imply a major logical flaw in the story.
