It could be much simpler (probably isn't, but could be). I'm sure there's a smarter way to say this, but I think they made the right choice because they're removing a link that prevents people who don't want their money supporting PP from donating to them. In the absence of this link, people who want to support Komen but not PP can donate to Komen where they couldn't before, and people who want to support Komen and PP can donate to both. Based on that they have only increased the number of potential donors. The unknown is the number of people who have supported Komen in the past but will choose not to continue to do so because of the politics of this decision.
Both you and ray have good points on that score. I don't know which is true, but my own personal take on it is that I might consider changing my breast cancer charity (or moving to another that gives money to stem cell research, even if it were for lung cancer or any other). However, you may be right that the pro-choice crowd may still feel it's worth it.
