I might first read La Chute since it's on my challenge list and very short, but I intend to give Druon a try after that. I will let you know what I think!

For the record, since I started buying books in French this latest time around (in November) I've bought 23 Pléiade volumes. At this point, though, I'm running out of physical space for a collection, so Vian in two volumes is much easier to swallow than Zola in five. Of course, I realize that his "series" is not entirely connected, but there's that completist in me...

I didn't know you were québécois - my mother's grandmother was 100% French Canadian and virtually all of her ancestors were already over in the New World by 1640 (which is unusual, considering how small the colony was at that time). We can trace them back to the 1500s in France in most cases, and one set of relatives back into the 1400s.
