Elaida on the other hand, just wants complete domination over the Aes Sedai.


Maybe, but she also knows the Tower needs to be united, and I'm sure she sees the Fourth Oath as working towards that. Just as Egwene did with her own pledges.


The difference is, Egwene was given a job she did not want, and losing meant her head on a pike. Elaida took a job that was not hers, schemed and murdered for it, and then bungled it up. Now she wants a way to set things right.

The Tower might not have needed unity if Elaida had done a better job, if she hadn't removed Siuan the way she did, or if she had had the guts to stand up to Alviarin.

Egwene is not proposing radical measures to cover her own ass, she's doing stuff out of the line because she cares about an institution that has given her nothing but a bad time, yet can be great and useful.
